Each one-day field-trip takes place within the local area of the school and should be followed with classroom-based activity using IT resources to download and review the photographs taken. The programme is open to all secondary schools in England, Wales and Scotland. Schools in Northern Ireland that would like to take part should contact us to register their interest.
For schools particiating in the Mobile scheme, a programme of INSET sessions in Spring 2012 will be confirmed soon according to demand. Teachers should run their Colliers Green Focus Mobile workshop shortly after attending INSET and must submit selected photographs to the Mobile competition.
Applications for a Colliers Green Focus Compact field-trip led by our expert team will be accepted until 21 October 2011. Workshops will take place during the Spring and Summer terms 2012 and planned in consultation with the selected schools.
Schools will be judged on their initial application. Selectors will carefully consider all of the entry forms and select ten schools. Decisions will be based on each applicant's plans or desires for field-trip work as well as where and how the workshop might best play a role. Schools that are not awarded a Compact field-trip this year are encouraged to participate in Colliers Green Focus Mobile.
Colliers Green Focus supports the Key Stage 3 Geography curriculum (S1-3 in Scotland) and schemes of work concerned with developing a 'sense of place'. The flexibility of the subject matter means that cross-curricular approaches can be easily introduced and indeed workshops have particularly benefitted from the input of Art & Design and IT specialists.
Both Colliers Green Focus Mobile and Compact are offered free of charge.
