The Photographers’ Gallery is one of the UK's primary venues for photography and one of London’s most popular public galleries. Established in 1971, the Gallery was the UK's first independent photographic gallery.

Exhibitions at The Photographers’ Gallery cover a range of subjects and histories, as well as genres including documentary, fine art and commercial applications of photography. The Gallery holds no permanent collection but instead offers a series of temporary exhibitions that change every two months. Past exhibitions have included historical prints from the London Fire Brigade’s photography archive, images by British fashion photographer Corinne Day and photographs of American teenagers by Magnum photographer Lise Sarfati.

The Gallery's programme of exhibitions, projects and events is created to inspire, inform and support its audience's enjoyment and critical understanding of photography. Partnership work with schools helps the Gallery learn from teachers and pupils, as well as photographers-in-residence, how photography can best be applied in different areas across the curriculum.

Some of our current projects with schools are:
Pressing Issues a two day photography and newspaper workshop in partnership with The
Guardian’s Newsroom, and;

Photomotion a five-session workshop, including an InSET with Art, Dance and PE teachers,
showing how photography can capture movement through the use of several action cameras.

The Gallery also produces useful resources for teachers and group leaders such as exhibition notes and other publications.

The Photographers’ Gallery is open seven days a week and entrance to all exhibitions is free of charge. For more information, please visit The Photographers’ Gallery website at www.photonet.org.uk or send an e-mail to info@photonet.org.uk.
